A Run Through Intellectual Property Law

The aim of this project is to create a complete set of lectures, each of about one hour's duration, covering the whole field of intellectual property, and some shorter specialised presentations. It will, I hope, meet the needs of students and practitioners who need a quick primer or refresher on the subject, and those who wish to learn about a particular subject in greater depth. Links are provided below to the lectures I have recorded: no link means I haven't recorded it yet.

The Introductory Run-Throughs

  1. Introduction to intellectual property law
  2. Confidential information
  3. Patents 1
  4. Patents 2
  5. Designs 1
  6. Designs 2
  7. Copyright 1
  8. Copyright 2
  9. Trade marks 1
  10. Trade marks 2
  11. Passing off

The Specialised Run-Throughs

  1. The Unitary European Union Patent and the Unified Patent Court (0.5 hours CPD) (notes here)
  2. Copyright in computer software
  3. Databases
  4. Keyword advertising
  5. Criminalising design infringements
  6. Open-source licensing
  7. Patent licensing and competition law

CPD

For the time being, I am making the lectures available free of charge: but for a modest charge (£20 plus VAT, £24 in total, per hour, half that for a half-hour one) you can claim CPD points if you send me your answers to some simple multichoice questions (more to check that you really listened than to test your knowledge, and to ensure I have a register of users). Drop me an email if you'd like to take advantage of this and I will send you the MCQs. Payment must be through PayPal and this service is provided by Motor Law Publications Ltd, details of which can be found on its website www.motorlaw.com.

Requests

If you would like me to cover a particular topic, please feel free to let me know. All suggestions gratefully received - and also any comments you might have. Please e-mail peter@ipsojure.co.uk.
